Technical Function of a Raised Face Gasket
A Raised Face Gasket is specifically designed to fit within the raised sealing area of a Raised Face (RF) flange.
When flange bolts are tightened:
- Bolt load is transferred directly to the gasket.
- The gasket compresses uniformly.
- The material flows into flange surface irregularities.
- Leakage paths are sealed.
- Internal pressure is contained.
Unlike Full Face Gaskets, Raised Face Gaskets concentrate the available bolt load onto a smaller sealing area, producing higher gasket seating stress and improved sealing performance.
